The Go Girl category is for one-day (or sometimes multi day) "try it" events that provide girls and young teens with the opportunity to experience a variety of physical activities and sports in a relaxed, friendly, and fun atmosphere.
Go Girl events are a great way to introduce girls to a community's recreation and sport resources. Girls can engage in a number of activities, then obtain information about how to further participate after the one-day event.
The Go Girl program provides the opportunity to apply for a contribution of up to $2500 for Alberta not-for-profit and charitable organizations to run a Go Girl event in their respective communities. Note: depending on the number of applications received, the amount can be reduced to $1500-2000.
Among girls who have participated in sport, there is a dramatic dropout rate observed with 1 in 5 girls leaving sport by late adolescence. A similar number of boys leave sport at this age; however, young men’s participation holds steady through their late teens and twenties, which creates a sizable participation gap between men and women. (Rally Report 2024)
The Canadian Health Measures Survey (2022 - 2024) shows the lowest levels of physical activity are seen among youth, especially girls. While few changes were observed among preschoolers and children between the period from 2018 to 2019 and from 2022 to 2024, the percentage of youth meeting the physical activity recommendation fell from 50% to 33% among males and from 21% to 8% among females.
Girls are motivated by Fun, friends and getting active. Girls require tailored solutions to common barriers. (Rally Report 2024)

All of InMotion Network's contribution programs are funded through AGLC gaming proceeds.
All Go Girl applications must be submitted through an Alberta based not-for-profit organization or charity in good standing
Organizations are can only apply once per intake, eligible for a maximum of $5000 per calendar year.
InMotion prioritizes projects for those who have been, and continue to be, excluded from sport, recreation, and physical activity systems due to interrelated factors such as race, gender, income, (dis)ability, religion, and language.
As part of our commitment to our members to provide a safe and positive environment within all of our activities as an organization, InMotion Network is signed onto the Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism (ABSSCM). This mechanism provides independent intake, case management, and resolution for Safe Sport concerns of member organizations in Alberta.
